To Marrakesh 2026

This is the page for my bike tour from Berne to Marrakesh. I’ll be updating it mostly in English. My trip began on 11 September 2026.

Here’s the very rough route. According to it, I have about 4,200 kilometres and 50,000 metres of climbing ahead of me. Reality will most probably look different.

Currently, I’m sort of attacking the Pyrenees, somewhere between Perpignan and Pau (we’re talking 10 October).

Some stats so far:

  • Accidents: 0
  • Distance covered: some 900 kilometres and 11,000 metres of climbing
  • Times run over by a wild boar: 0, they didn’t even try (Weichbecher!)
  • Attempts to run over a wild boar: several, all unsuccessful (I’m too slow, stuzzi cadenti!)
  • Shitty days on the road: one and a half

Mark’s mood: Mostly, I’m just happy with how things are going. The weather has been mostly beautiful the whole time, I get guuuuuud food practically everywhere, and I’m always aware of how privileged I am to be doing this at all. Okay, the headwind is sometimes heavy which makes me create new swearwords.
